Review: A Sense of the Resurrection

I like holidays like Easter and Christmas. I really do. But since my kids were born, I've become all the more aware of the over-commercialised nature of both.

Something that is supposed to be full of awe and wonder, and full of Jesus, is now all about how many chocolate eggs or presents kids can get.

Thankfully Amanda from Oh Amanda had the same feeling and actually acted on it. She has written this amazing resource for Easter. A Sense of the Resurrection is really brilliant! So brilliant in fact that Marijke and I are going to translate it to Afrikaans as well!

In the 12 days leading up to Easter, the book offers tastes, smells, and other senses of the true Easter story. With activities for a variety of ages, and deeper discussion suggestions, this is really a resource all Christian families need. Look past the bunnies, chicks, eggs and chocolate, and look to Jesus, and the reason we celebrate this shocking and blessed time.

All the activities can be made with minimum expense, most things you should have at home, and that which you don't is fairly easy to obtain. The things your kids will make are also not silly toilet paper roll toys that you can toss after a day, they will likely become permanent fixtures in your home and be constant reminders of what our awesome God did when He sent us His only Son to die, a painful, tragic death so that we can live.

There is still time to buy this resource, currently only in English (we should have the Afrikaans one for you by next year) from Oh Amanda. We highly recommend you head of over and buy it now!

Ek geniet feesdae soos Paasfees en Kersfees. Ek doen werklik.
A Sense of the Resurrection is werklik briljant!
